For a visiting guy, used to bars with diverse and accepting crowds, this place made me feel right at home. Like a "Cheers" away from home.

I am not your typical lesbian. My best friends are all drag queens and I identify and act more like a gay man than the muff diving lesbian I am. I normally don't enjoy bars that are predominately lesbian but Mable's was AWESOME! Great atmosphere; great people; great drinks! I am new to the area and I think I just found my hot spot!!!

Now if you're an out-of-towner, I would not suggest you drive all the way out to Denton for its sole gay bar. But if you live in Dallas and want to try something new, this place is worth checking out. I was there on a Fri. night and it had a good-sized crowd, without being overly crowded. And they had awful karaoke, but I mean that in a good way. Very entertaining, some terrible singers who gave it their all, and no American Idol wannabe types. Mable's beats any of the bars in Ft. Worth by a landslide. And it also wins grand prize for most original gay bar name ever.

I really love Mable's for the atmosphere. Great bartenders, good drinks, and a blast of a time. I'm always there, and believe me, sometimes it best to be a regular at a small town bar such as this one.
