With a name like Stampede, one would invision a rawhide, leathery cowboy atmosphere. Not unlike the Bars and Nightclubs Ft Worth is famous for(only gay). This would have been a great strategy for re-vamping the old Corral bar. But, no. The Stampede is just your run-of-the-mill neighborhood bar with WAY too many drag shows, cigarette smoke, weak drinks, and a predictable crowd. Decent drink prices and music though. I used to go to the Corral back in the day, and it was sort of seedy and fun, but the Stampede is a far cry from all that. It's a different place all together. I suggest you all go try it out at least once to see what I mean. It's worth having a beer over. The service is a little slow, but you can have a clear conversation with a buddy during happy hour when the music's down. I would make one suggestion to the management though. Less drag! I am sure some of the money is for a good cause, but let's keep the drag to a minnimum. There are other bars in the area better suited for the drag crowd. Send the drag queens to do shows at the 651. I have to be honest though, my friends and I have started going to the Roundup in Dallas because the Fort Worth scene is pretty nill. It's worth the drive. Also I hear Stampede has a blacklist of people in the area who are forever banned from the bar that has over 100 names on it!?! Not good P.R. strategy, guys! Especially when we out-of-towners read about it and haven't yet been there. I came in anyway, but did see two guys asked to leave the bar before they were even served! Work on a friendlier, more masculine atmosphere and maybe you'll get a bigger crowd, Stampede! Good luck! Luke

I think this place was re-opened about 2 years ago, as it was the Corral before that. Major changes included ripping out the old/nasty carpet, a paint job, and concrete floors. Drag shows all the time draw in the crowds, and I think all the poeple there smoke - heavily! The back bar is a place to get away from the show, and they have a nice outdoor patio to sit for a spell too. Not for the trendy or non-smokers, but the drinks are cold and cheap ($0.50 draft beers everyday?!)

With a name like Stampede, one would expect a leather cowboy type bar. We found a "neighborhood" bar with a tired crowd, heavy smoke in the air and chep drinks. Drag shows are the entertainment every Friday and Saturday night
